GEEP advisory group meeting on October 10, 2022
Since the establishment of the Global Environmental Education Partnership (GEEP) in 2014, annual meetings have been held. After two years of virtual meeting caused by the pandemic, the meeting this year in Tucson, Arizona, is the first time open to the participation of non-consultants. The Taiwan delegation led by Dr. Xuanwu Zhang from Environmental Protection Administration (EPA), GEEP APRC members, and environmental youth leaders joined the meeting.
There are 4 meeting goals for this year’s GEEP advisory group meeting, including Connect as GEEP colleagues、Review Progress toward GEEP goals、imagine actions and bold ideas for GEEP 2023-2026、Share new ideas and resources. In order to achieve the above 4 goals, GEEP set up a solid agenda of activities for an entire day. In addition to the discussions, APRC also prepared a briefing with Prof. Tzu-Chau Chang to share the achievements of APRC in the past two years and the future activities.
The process of imagine actions and bold ideas for GEEP 2023-2026 is divided into two stages. Group discussions were held in the first stage. With each group having a different topic for discussion, participants were free to choose the topics they wanted to include, and each group presented the discussion results of the group. The second stage is for everyone to vote on the results of the first stage of discussion, and each person is allowed to vote for three ideas that they find practical or interesting. Since ee 30 under 30 is working well, there is a discussion on whether we can also include 60 over 60. GEEP also collected the results of this discussion as a basis for its follow-up action plan.
