- Introduction
Ms. Ugyen Tshomo works at the National Environment Commission as an Environment Officer. She has worked on projects like Ecology Note of Bhutan and Waste and Climate Change (WCC) collaborating with UNEP-IETC, IGES, WWF, and German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building, and Nuclear Safety.
She worked as a core team with UNDP and BI Australia on a social experiment to Improve Household Waste Segregation in Thimphu. She also closely worked with the Ministry of Health on biomedical waste management during the COVID-19 pandemic and post COVID-19. In 2019, Ms. Ugyen Tshomo was awarded a Green Ticket for her demonstrated commitment to addressing the climate crisis and advancing solutions by the United Nations to attend the first Youth Climate Summit and UNGA held at UN headquarters, New York, USA. Previously, Ms. Ugyen Tshomo has worked at the Gross National Happiness Commission for the development of the 12th Five Year Plan (2018-2021) of the country and also worked at Royal Thimphu College under the Academic Affairs Department. Ms. Ugyen Tshomo holds her Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Sciences with a minor in Development Studies from the Asian University for Women, Bangladesh in 2016. She holds Master’s in Marine Plastics Abatement from the Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand.
