We are the Eco Team from Sri Bestari Private School, Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia. The Eco Team is a volunteer group under the Eco Schools Programme which aims to challenge students to engage in tackling environmental problems at a level where they can see tangible results, spurring them on to realise that they really can make a difference. In the beginning, the Eco Team was set up by a few student volunteers and En Shamsul Mutaza with little knowledge about the Eco School Programme. In 2013, we officially launched the Eco Schools Programme with our yearly themes. Upon the official launching, we started some waste management activities, DIY our waste bins to segregate plastics bottles and cans.
Since 2012, we have made a huge impact on the sustainability of our school and the community around us. Some of our yearly activities are EARTH HOUR in our school compound, workshops and webinars on different environmental topics, campaigns on zero waste, activities in conjunction with World Earth Day, and many more!
2 silver awards, 3 green flag awards and 1 hibiscus award later, 2022 marks our 10 year anniversary as an Eco-School. Currently, the Eco Team is made up of 15 committed members, led by Chen Xin Ying, Wei Jia Man, Linita Maiyan and Chan Zi Hao.
