【Special Topic】2nd Environmental Youth Leader Project of Taiwan EPA - Justin Yin
Save the food, Reduce the carbon but not the wallet
In 2014, I went to Finland as an exchange student studying International Business. Surprisingly, I found out that in Europe, people’s overall awareness of environmental protection is relatively higher compared to Taiwan. Therefore, I started to have the idea of starting up my own company.
The Tasteme APP platform is a food saving media platform, providing B to B and B to C transaction services for both parties, starting with the concept of food saving to help stores recover their costs and increase the customer rate. The "Lucky Bag" is the item on the platform that shares unsold food, which are been collected from stores at a fixed price during a specific time. It allows stores to maximize their cost recovery, consumers to buy at the best price, the environment to been protected, and the platform to make a stable profit, creating a win-win-win-win model.
At this stage, the most important issue is to implement the concept of education to the stores and consumers. When the overall understanding of environmental awareness and food conservation in Taiwan is improved, Tasteme believes that the Millennials and GenZ will continue to pass on the concept and create a better social environment with sustainable actions.
